Hope everyone had an excellent Christmas. Welcome back to reality! I believe 2007 will bring another great successful year to the maniacs.  Reflecting back on a great 2006, I congratulate all members for their commitment, their dedication and passion for the sport.  We had a fabulous event at the Fall Festival Run! This year, the event will be on OCTOBER 6,2007.  Yes, it is Thanksgiving weekend again! So from now until we start our committee meetings in the spring, keep your eyes and ears open for any ideas for our event!  So team it is time to commit to the goals that you have set for yourselves.  The calendar is set for training for a half marathon, or a full marathon.  From many members, I have heard that either Chilly half or Ottawa (Mississauga) is their goal for a personal best time in the half.  Keep in mind if you want to do your personal best at the Chilly half, you will need to taper for this and then allow your body to recover as required.  If you are treating this as a training run, this is not as necessary.  That said, spring would be your personal best goal. Here is where you would need to taper!  As for the marathoners, Chilly half will definitely be your training run.  I would love everyone to write down on their calendar, another guest speaker will be coming to speak with us! She has ran Boston, is a local physiotherapist, and has a lot of experience to share with the group.  I would love to see everyone out to support her.  If we get a good response other speakers will be more apt to come out to speak to us. If only a couple people show up, they will not be coming out to talk to us.  I appreciate your support on this one! Listed below are some common positive running moments that you should embrace in 2007:

*The glow that we feel after our runs, no matter what the temperature, no matter how we feel when we started, acknowledge the feeling of those endorphins!

*The energizing effects of the right goal for each individual person.  All have a purpose, all hold meaning.

*The feeling of satisfaction from finishing our runs---particularly the difficult ones.  And yes there will be a few!

*Staying injury free.  Listen to your body, and act on an issue immediately.

*Meeting that new person on the team, knowing they will likely look up to you,  You never know what you can learn and discover about another person on a run, or while you are stretching.

Thanks for being part of the Maniac Team!

The next LTR will be just after March break.
